Brazilian player takes his best score at the Winter Paralympics in China – 03/06/2022

Brazil’s full delegation at the 2022 Winter Paralympics made its debut on Saturday night (5), in China.

In cross-country skiing (15 km), Aline Rocha from Paraná was the only representative of the country and made history in the city of Zhangjiakou, 180 kilometers northwest of Beijing. He finished in seventh place, with a time of 50 minutes 45 seconds, and achieved his best participation in the Olympics. Yang Hongqiong of China took gold (43 min06s7), followed by Oksana Masters North America (43m38sec8) and China’s Li Panpan (45m17sec).

“It was difficult, but it was very good. I suffered a little, but I am very happy. This race was the longest, so I was more in control. In other races, I will be strong from start to finish, hoping to do it. better in the medium distance (7.5km)”, analyzes Aline, who became paralyzed after being in a car accident at the age of 15.

In Beijing, Cristian Ribera managed to become the best of the four Brazilian golfers in the long race (18 km in 52:29.1) cross-country skiing, finishing in 14th place. Guilherme Rocha, Robelson Lula and Wesley dos Santos also competed.

Guilherme Rocha of São Paulo ended the race in 19th position, with a time of 55 minutes18s9, followed by Robelson Lula, ranked 20th, (57min17s7). Also from São Paulo, Wesley dos Santos ended the dispute in 22nd place (58:23,5).

The gold medal went to Zheng Peng of China (43 minutes 09 seconds), who doubled the points with compatriot Mao Zhongwu (43 minutes 23 seconds). Bronze goes to Canada’s Collin Cameron (47min36s6).

In the snowboard cross, André Barbieri competes in the qualifiers in class LL1, for athletes with disabilities in one or both legs. Among the 15 entrants, André had a 13th best time: 1min18s30 on his first offspring. In the second round, he finished the course in 1 minute1948 and, because he could not increase the time in connection with his previous participation, such a decline was discarded. This Monday the 7th, around 00.30 WIB, gaucho will compete in the final of the competition.
