Canadian Tire raises thousands for charity – StrathmoreNow.com

For the second year in a row, Canadian Tire broke their own record for the largest donation to the Strathmore and Wheatland Christmas Hamper Society! Last year they raised $6200, and this year they upped the ante with an amazing $7000 raised by soliciting donations this month.

Canadian Tire owner Michael Tourond said it was the generosity of the community that made this record-breaking donation possible.

“We certainly take advantage of Strathmore’s generosity for an amazing charity where every dollar is saved here at Strathmore and we know it will help a lot of families so we are very proud of it and thrilled about it,” he said.

“Every year I’m blown away. It’s an easy process to raise money for this charity here at Canadian Tire. Everyone we ask for the most part comes forward and believes in the charity and we are so grateful for that.”

Strathmore has always had a supportive community, and a large part of that is businesses like Canadian Tire who worked to create this fundraiser to help our local charities. Tourond says for him, choosing to enter an event like this was an easy decision, because they also want to be involved in helping our community to help when they can.

“We support the communities that support us. We are members of this community and this store exists because of our community, and if we can make people’s lives better by supporting them with fundraisers, that is the most we can do.”
