Celine Dion has a rare neurological disease – cancels tour

Dion is scheduled to perform at the Telenor Arena in Fornebu on September 27 and 28, 2023. This concert has been postponed three times due to the pandemic and health conditions.

– I was recently diagnosed with a very rare nervous disease called “Stiff person syndrome”, said the artist in an emotional video on Instagrampublished on Thursday.

Rare disease

According to the NHI, it is characterized by “Stiff person syndrome” increased muscle stiffness and cramping pain triggered by movement and different moods. It is also called autoimmune rigidity syndrome.

According to its website, this disease is very rare and the condition occurs 2 to 3 times more often in women than men.

Long term health problems

The popular artist says in the video that he is affected by illness in many ways and it affects his voice and means he cannot sing like he used to.

– I have had problems with my health for a long time. It’s been really hard for me to face this challenge and talk about everything I’ve been through, he wrote.

Initially, the spring 2023 concerts were moved to 2024, while the eight concerts that were due to be held next summer have been cancelled. It is not known what will happen to the concert in Norway.
