Death of GORD KIRCHIN, singer and founder of PILEDRIVER

Due to lung cancer, on the eve of his 61st birthday, the emblematic Gord “Piledriver” Kirchinsinger and founder of Canadian speed metal band piledriver, deceased. The news was given on social networks by his sister, Tina. She says:

“Before arriving at the hospital, he (big) played me two songs on the radio SiriusXMa The sweetness of the hearth (Motley Crue) – ‘I’m on my way, please set me free, home sweet home’ – it’s clear, EMBRACE, Rock and roll all night. I know he sent me this message. He died while I was on the way. I’m heartbroken, completely broken, but I know he’s going to play music with all his idols. In particular the Frank Zappa. I will miss him enormously, his laughter, his nickname, his stupidity, his impressive musical talent. He called me his miniature. A close friend of his made this poster (see below) of piledriver. I’m so grateful to every one of his friends and fans, you kept him alive for as long as possible. Rest in power, Gordy“.

Recently, Kirchin revealed on social media that she had completed her last chemotherapy session. At the time, he said it had been “a brutal chemical battle”.

Kirchin formed the piledriver in 1984 in Toronto. The band achieved ‘cult’ status in the underground with their two albums, metal inquisition (1984) and stay ugly (1986). In 1988, the group changed its name to Dogs with jobs and ended its journey in 1993. Eleven years later, Gord Kirchin returned to activities and not be able to use the name piledriver (for unknown reasons), renamed his band to The Exalted Piledriver. Under this new name, the group released in 2008 the album metal manifesto.

In 2009, Kirchin again gave up his career – now temporarily – due to health problems and also with the Northern Storm Records, in addition to the jostling of some members. The same year, however, he reactivated the group with members of gory.
