Djokovic and Swiatek star in new exhibition tournament in Dubai – 30/09/2022

The United Arab Emirates Tennis Federation has just announced a new mixed exhibition tournament for the opening of the 2023 calendar, which will be called the World Tennis League and will bring together 16 players.

The tournament will be played in women’s, men’s and mixed doubles, with group-format brackets and semi-final and final placings in each frame. The matches will be played in two sets and if a tie-break is necessary, the third set will be match-tie-break.

The event will be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from December 19-24.

The two main stars of the event will be the world number 1, the Polish Iga Swiatek, and the Serbian Novak Djokovic, holder of 21 Grand Slam titles.

Canadians Bianca Andreescu and Felix Auger-Aliassime, Indians Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopana, Estonian Anett Kontaveit, Spaniard Paula Badosa, Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, Romanian Simona Halep, Kazakh Elena Rybakina, German Alexander Zverev , Austrian Dominic Thiem, Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, Australian Nick Kyrgios and Frenchman Gaƫl Monfils.

It is programmed by the tournament that after each game session there will be a “Grand Show” with musical performances. So far the concerts of Dutch DJs Tiesto and Armin Van Buuren are confirmed.
