The alleged shooter, a man, was shot and killed by law enforcement officers after an unmarked police vehicle was shot several times.
Canadian police said in a statement that a total of four people, all homeless, were attacked by the suspect.
Police said the attack began just before 6:15 a.m. local time (4:15 a.m. in Lisbon), when reports of gunfire arrived at multiple locations in Langley, a city outside Vancouver on Canada’s Pacific coast.
One of the dead was at a bus stop, while a second was found in a park near a community center providing support to the homeless.
Authorities also found two seriously injured people, one of them a woman, who was in critical condition.
At around 07:00 local time (17:00 in Lisbon), police found the suspect in a shooting on a street in Langley and, after a confrontation, he was shot and shot.
Images released by various media showed bicycles and backpacks in the middle of the road flanked by police signal cones, as well as police cars with at least nine bullet marks on the windshield and driver’s window.
