This time it’s not a (Canadian) striker like David Morley recently, but a Norwegian defender – with good international experience: Christian Kasastoul is “only” 26 years old, but has already gained a lot of experience. AHL (2021/22) as well as ECHL overseas, Allsvenskan (2 years) and of course the Norwegian championship (from junior age with Frisk Asker) are on his calling card.
The highlight of the preliminary career followed last season: via ECHL (Greenville) and Elitserien (Norway), the trip went to the traditional Finnish club IFK Helsinki. There, the left-handed lean shooter secured a regular spot and reached the semifinals.
Kåsastul (179cm, 90kg) has been part of the Norwegian national team for several years. After no fewer than five Junior World Cups, the no-nonsense defender has now been nominated for almost 100 international appearances, including Olympic qualifying tournaments, and has already won four Senior World Cups.
Team planning comes to an end
In 2019, Frisk Asker won the title. By the way, David Morley, the new Wolf striker, weighs in there in a few matches. Now both are in Pustertal and in the ICE Hockey League. The team’s planning is slowly coming to an end. The final pieces of the puzzle should be put together before the start of training on August 4, so that Coach Valton can use his full potential early.
“Christian had a very good season in Helsinki and was HIFK’s best defender after his arrival. He definitely plays harder than his size suggests and has a fantastic will to fight. We can’t wait to see him.” , said HCP coach Tomek Valtonen of Kåsastul. “I want to bring a lot of positive energy to Brunico and play my best hockey so we can have a long season. I’m looking forward to Pustertal and the fans there,” the player told him.
