FIFA World Cup: UFC news: Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of the most famous names in MMA. However, the former UFC lightweight champion is also an avid soccer fan. Khabib Nurmagomedov loves football as much as MMA. And even though Russia is playing, there is never any doubt whether Khabib will be watching the tournament. And even though Khabib is in Canada, he’s keeping up with the action.

That said, the experience wasn’t the best by any means. Talking in a Interview on November 20, Khabib said he watched the opening ceremony and the first match on Canadian broadcast. He then added,
“I was watching Canadian TV and I saw people talking about football and these people didn’t understand anything.” The Russian then said, “Why, like, the biggest TV [event] in Canada, they bring these people and they talk about football and I can see, I can understand that they never watch football.
Obviously, Khabib Nurmagomedov is not enjoying coverage of the FIFA World Cup in a country where football is not the main sport.
Khabib Nurmagomedov’s love for the beautiful game goes back a long way. In the past, Khabib has expressed his love for the sport and even had offers from professional Russian teams to join them after retiring from MMA.
Apart from that, Khabib has met soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and also visited Manchester United FC to watch them play. Therefore, it is not surprising that the Russian player was unhappy with the broadcast of the FIFA World Cup in Canada.
So while fans may point out that his comments about them not watching football are unfair, it’s clear that Khabib Nurmagomedov knows his football. However, Canadians can say that their country will be in the FIFA World Cup while Khabib’s beloved Russia will not.
