Indonesia won a dramatic 3-2 over Canada after the mixed doubles victory, Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari over BR Sankeerth/Crystal Lai in the second match of the group stage Sudirman Cup 2021 at Energia Arena, Vantaa, Finland, Mon (27/9).

Rinov/Pitha beat Sankeerth/Lai through a two-game game with a score of 21-14, 21-10 in 30 minutes.

Rinov/Pitha started the match in the last party of the Group C phase well. Rinov/Pitha immediately took a 5-1 lead over Sankeerth/Lai at the beginning of the first game.

Rinov/Pitha continued to maintain that advantage, who closed the first game interval 11-6. After the interval, Rinov/Pitha were still able to appear solid and continued to press Sankeerth/Lai to gain points.

The aggressive game shown by Rinov/Pitha made Sankeerth/Lai die and fell further behind with a score of 17-10. Rinov/Pitha can maintain the superiority of the points until they close the first game with 21-14.

In the second game, Sankeerth/Lai tried to give Rinov/Pitha fierce resistance. However, Rinov/Pitha could remain calm to lead 8-3.

Rinov/Pitha were then able to close the second game interval with 11-3. Sankeerth/Lai slowly got back up after the interval by taking six points but Rinov/Pitha could maintain the lead with a score of 16-9.

Rinov/Pitha appear more confident with the margin of points that are quite far. Rinov/Pitha then closed the second game with a score of 21-10.

Rinov/Pitha’s victory made Indonesia win 3-2 over Canada. Indonesia had won 1-0 through the men’s doubles, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto who won over BR Sankeerth/Nyl Yakura, but Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo’s defeat in the women’s singles made the score 1-1.

Indonesia then trailed 1-2 after Jonathan Christie lost to Brian Yang through three games 21-9, 20-22, 18-21. However, Indonesia was able to equalize the score to 2-2 thanks to the victory achieved by Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu over Rachel Chan/Catherine Choi with a score of 21-16, 21-10.
