King Harald pulled Bieber’s joke on Hareid

– We’ve heard that Canadian pop star Justin Bieber has been here. What that means – he flew above Sunnmøre in 2015, quite a distance. But he may have seen the light from the Hareid, from 40,000 feet, King Harald said when he spoke to local residents at the Hareid in Sunnmøre on Thursday morning.

Hareid is an industrial city with proud traditions, including being the starting point for sealing and polar expeditions in the last century.

Viral success

But the village also attracted attention when the local newspaper Vikebladet Vestposten made the “Justin Bieber fly over Sunnmøre – may have seen the light from the Hareid on the way home” case in 2015.

The article is one viral success, and is also featured on the popular Instagram account BAdesken.

The King had clearly learned this:

“I therefore expect the Vikebladet Vestposten to be camera ready when we take off from Vigra tonight,” said the king, to laughter from the audience, who had gathered for a folk festival on the wharf at the Hareid in connection with the royal visit.

District visit

The royal couple will conclude a three-day visit to the five municipalities of Møre and Romsdal on Thursday. The trip was marked by bright sunshine and beautiful nature experiences, as well as a number of encounters with local people.

– We ended our regional tour in the beautiful center of Sunnmøre which is Hareid. As always in our travels in the countryside, we saw that the local community stepped in with a spirit of service and contributed greatly when we came to visit. The queen and I are very grateful for this, said the king.

He also spoke from a pulpit specially built for King Olav when he visited the village in 1986. At that time, the king marked the 1,000th anniversary of the battle at Hjørungavåg between Håkon Jarl and Jomsviking in 986 – another significant event in Harid’s history.
