KKP Prepares USD1 Million Grant Cooperation with Canadian TFO


POSJAKUT – The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) is preparing to cooperate with the Canadian Trade Facilitation Office (TFO).

This collaboration is intended to increase the capacity of human resources (HR) and facilities in the field of fish quarantine, quality assurance and security of fishery products.

This was conveyed by the Secretary of the Fish Quarantine, Quality Control and Safety of Fishery Products (BKIPM), Hari Maryadi, in Jakarta, Monday, January 3, 2022.

Hari said that the cooperation is one of the implementations of the mandate of the World Trade Organization (WTO) – Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA).

Indonesia has also committed to implementing TFA in related sectors, including fisheries.

“Following this, BKIPM as part of the National Committee for Trade Facilitation (KNFP) coordinates and cooperates with both domestic and foreign agencies,” he continued.

Hari said his staff were discussing the project on Improving Risk Management of Import Control and Inspection System for Fish and Fishery Products for Fish Quarantine and Inspection Agency (FQIA) in Indonesia with TFO Canada.

In the project, there is a grant of USD 1 million which will be stipulated in a memorandum of understanding between the two institutions.
