The 2022 NBA Play-In Tournament ends when the Pelicans visit the Clippers on Friday, April 15.

After starting the season 1-12, the ninth-seeded Pelicans (36-46) are looking to finish their season with a win and a playoff spot.

The Clippers (42-40), looking to make their 10th playoff appearance in 11 years with a win, will have to do without Paul George, who has been placed in the league’s health and safety protocol.

The winner of this game awaits the Suns, the owners of the West’s top seed and NBA’s best record. Who will head to The Valley of the Sun?

How do NBA Play-In Tournaments work?

The NBA Play-In Tournaments will be held after the end of the 2021-22 regular season and before the start of the first round of the 2022 NBA Playoffs. 1-6 in the standings of each conference will be guaranteed a playoff place. Team Numbers 7-10 will enter the Play-In Tournament.
Every conference No. 7 and 8 teams will face off, with the winner getting the No. 7 seeded in the playoffs. The loser still has one more chance to reach the playoffs.
Every conference No. The 9 and 10 teams will face off, with the winner advancing to play the No. loser. 7-vs.-No. 8 games. Loser no. 9-vs.-No. 10 matches will be eliminated from the playoff fight.
Loser no. 7-vs.-No. 8 games and winner no. 9-vs.-No. 10 games will then be played against each other. The winner of that game will be No. 8 seeds in the playoffs. The loser will be eliminated from the playoff fight.
Outside of the Play-In Tournament, the 2022 NBA Playoffs will follow the usual format, with a full best-of-seven series through to the NBA Finals.
