Ponte da Barca invested 900,000 euros to upgrade the school

The Ponte da Barca Council will start work on upgrading the Diogo Bernardes primary and secondary schools, with a global investment of around 900 thousand euros.

“Schools are places where children and young people spend most of their day and, therefore, a healthy and comfortable environment is very important for their well-being and learning”, said the mayor, Augusto Marinho, quoted in a press release sent to space editorial.

The interventions “will focus on upgrading and preserving the building where the secondary school kitchen, dining area, and multipurpose area are located.

In primary schools, the work to be carried out includes “repair and preservation of the building where the kitchen and dining area are located, the mobility of the outdoor playground and the lateral protection of the enclosed playground”.

“This reference to comfort in physical space should therefore also be extended to mealtimes, recognizing that students spend most of their day at school, eating lunch there, which highlights the value of this space, not just from a nutritional perspective. , cleanliness and safety, but also social”, the mayor of Barqu highlighted.

According to the Ponte da Barca City Hall, “the final report and draft contract for the project were approved at the last City Hall meeting”.

Rehabilitation at the Diogo Bernardes primary and secondary schools, with around 1,200 students, will focus “basically on improving the hygiene and health conditions of the two kitchens, namely changing the equipment and layout, as well as, with respect to the canteen/dining area, the behavior of acoustic energy and passive, increase the energy efficiency of the heating system and increase the level, convenience of interior lighting and supporting furniture”.

“Interventions will also take place in complementary areas, namely in the staff room for the kitchen staff and their changing rooms”.
