Proud! Barrabonite judoka wins silver at Pan Ams

Last Saturday, April 16, the Barrabonitense Raphael Buzacarini won the silver medal for our national team at the Pan American Judo Championship.

The feat came from Lima, Peru, where the competition is taking place this year. To reach the light heavyweight (-100kg) final, “Bolo Cru” (his nickname in the sport) beat Ecuadorian Junior Angulo, Cuban Liester Cardona and Canadian Ian Ryder. In the final, he lost to Canadian Shady El Nahas.

With this victory, Brazil won 15 medals in the championship, placing first overall in individual.

“Happy with my first medal this year after hitting the beam in the first competitions. I feel my technical evolution that I worked at Pinheiros and I will look to continue the evolution towards the main objective, which is the Worlds”Buzacarini said through his adviser.

It was Buzacarini’s third medal in Pan history. Before, he had won a silver medal (2020) and a bronze medal (2014).
