Shooting after hotel brawl kills Canadian tourist in Mexico

One person died and two were injured after a shooting at the Xcaret hotel in the Playa del Carmen region of Mexico. The case occurred on Friday (21/1). According to local authorities, all of the victims were Canadians.

In a post on social media, the secretary of Public Security for the state of Quintana Roo, Lucio Hernández Gutiérrez, reported that the shooting occurred after an altercation among guests at the address.

One of the tourists staying at the inn shot another victim. According to the secretary, the suspect has not yet been arrested. However, security camera footage was released to aid in the arrest of the suspect.

“Authorities from the coordination group deployed a strong operation to arrest him. Any information for an immediate arrest would be greatly appreciated,” Gutiérrez wrote.

According to the secretary, the three victims were immediately transferred to the hospital. One of them succumbed to his injuries and died on the spot.
