Sudirman Cup, Jonathan Christie Regrets the absence of Hawk Eye Technology

KOMPAS.com – Indonesian men’s singles Jonathan Christie regrets the absence of technology Eagle Eye when competing in the 2021 Sudirman Cup.

Indonesia competed against Canada in the second match of Group C Sudirman Cup at Energian Areena, Vantaa, Finland, Monday (27/9/2021) night WIB.

In that match, Jonatan Christie was assigned to Indonesia in the men’s singles number to face Brian Yang.

Jonathan Christie appeared in the third party when Indonesia and Canada drew 1-1.

Jojo was again unable to produce the best game until he lost 18-21 in the third game.

After going through a match that lasted one hour and three minutes, the 2018 Asian Games gold medal winner lost through drama rubber game 21-9, 20-22, and 18-21.

After the match, Jonathan Christie regretted one thing in the championship, which was not applying technology Eagle Eye on Court 3, where he competed.

Meanwhile, Jojo thinks that Brian Yang is not a random player. According to him, the opponent has good abilities as a badminton player.

“I did lose and there were many lessons to be learned. When I was ahead and had lost a point in the second game, I shouldn’t have had to change my strategy by playing fast, which is Brian’s favorite,” said Jojo.

“As a player, he (Brian Yang) has track record which is not so bad,” he said.

Jojo’s defeat left Indonesia 1-2 behind Canada. However, the Red and White team can wipe out the remaining two matches.

It was Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu and Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari who managed to beat their opponents so that Indonesia won 3-2 over Canada.

As a result, the Red and White team have collected two wins in Group C and qualified for the 2021 Sudirman Cup quarter-finals.

Furthermore, Indonesia will face Denmark in the final match of Group C to fight for the top of the standings, Wednesday (29/9/2021) afternoon WIB.
