The Weeknd broke records and reached 100 million monthly listeners on Spotify

Singer The Weeknd won, this Monday (27), the largest monthly listen count in Spotify history. The Canadian hit 100 million viewers on the platform and set a record, being the first to reach that number.

The artist is the most-listened singer on the platform since last October, when he surpassed Ed Sheeran. At that time, Canadians recorded a peak of 78 million listeners. Since then, it has been number one as the most listened to song.

The achievement of 100 million monthly listeners was achieved after the artist released the Die For You remix, in collaboration with Ariana Grande, last Friday (24). The feat debuted with over 9 million streams.

Released in January last year, Dawn FM, the artist’s fifth album, entered the list as one of the best-selling albums of the period in the United States.

Among the most listened to Spotify, after The Weeknd, are: Miley Cyrus (83.5M) being the second most listened to artist, followed by Taylor Swift (80.3M), Ed Sheeran (77.5M) and Shakira (77M) ).

The Weeknd has a show scheduled in Brazil in October this year. Singer made two presentations in São Paulo (10 and 11), and one in Rio de Janeiro (7).
