Canadian company Tower One Wireless deployed 12 telecommunications towers in Colombia and Ecuador in March, according to the company’s construction records.

In February, Tower One deployed 13 towers, while in March 2022 there were nine deployments.

Of the new sites, 11 were in Colombia and one in Ecuador. As a rule, the towers have a lease term of 10 years and are completely new projects. Deployments involved both rural and urban pylons.

Colombian towers have been deployed in Nuqui, Novita, Carmen Del Darien, Bajo Baudo (two sites), all in the department of Chocó. Towers were also built in San Carlos and Ituango (Antioquia), as well as two in Cali (Valle del Cauca), Rabo Largo and San Antonio (Bolívar).

The Ecuadorian site was established in Santa Elena.

With new installations, Tower One ended the first quarter with 386 towers in its core markets of Colombia, Ecuador and Mexico, with 424 tenants (number of customer leases per site).

Of the total number of towers in operation, 308 are in Colombia, 71 in Ecuador and seven in Mexico.

All of these towers fall under the build-to-suit model, which foresees the construction of the towers after signing a long-term lease with a mobile operator.

The group also informed that four towers were concluded in February in the construction-as-a-service modality, when the company makes the structure available before the request and the signing of the contracts, providing complete solutions from acquisition to the integration. In this case, all sites were completed in Colombia.

The company’s main customers are Telefónica, which owns approximately 44% of its websites; Tigo Colombia (29%), from Millicom; WOM Colombia (21%); Claro Colombia (3%); the Mexicans Altán Redes (1%) and CFE (1%); and DirecTV Colombia (1%).
