Myron L. Johnson, Sr. | News, Sports, Work

SKANDIA TOWNSHIP, MI – Myron L. Johnson, Sr., 73, from Skandia entered eternal life on the night of Thursday, September 15, surrounded by family at UP Health System – Marquette.

He was born June 2, 1949, to Lowell and Helmi (Louma) Johnson and grew up on the family farm, a place he would call home for the rest of his life. He married Denise Murray on November 11, 1972, and together they raised three sons in the homestead whom he cherished greatly. An independent man, there seemed to be little he couldn’t invent, build, or fix. Over the years, he was employed by Jilbert’s Dairy, Johnson’s Sawmill, and retired with 33 years of service with the Soo Line, Wisconsin Central, and Canadian National Railroads.

He left his wife; Denise, her three sons; Myron Jr (Becky) from Mackinac Island, Keith (Brenda) from Ishpeming, and Andrew (Danielle) from Menominee. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Darren, Alyssa, Grace, and Audrey Johnson, all from Ishpeming, sister Barbara (Frank) Ward of Skandia, several nieces and close friends; Clayton, Donny, and Frank.

Apart from his parents, his death was preceded by his sister; Violet Hayes and brothers; Walter Johnson.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Skandia on Saturday, October 1, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. service time. Michael Holman, LLM will lead. The reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.

A good man, he loves God, family and old farm.
