Signed in 2011, the air transport agreement between Brazil and Canada was approved yesterday in the Senate

The Federal Senate informed that yesterday, May 4, the text of the agreement on air transportation signed between Brazil and Canada was approved, PDL 1.100/2021which will now proceed to enforcement.

The air services cooperation agreement is similar to the one signed by Brazil under the “open skies policy”, in which the two countries make the rules of commercial flights between them more flexible.

It was signed in 2011 by both countries, and in recent years has been in the process of being approved as a bill (PDL). Approval in the Chamber of Deputies took place last November, when the proposal was sent to the Senate.

The agreement stipulates that neither country may unilaterally limit the traffic volume, frequency, number of destinations or regularity of another party’s services, except when necessary for reasons of customs and other government inspection services; or for technical or operational reasons, under conditions consistent with the Convention on International Civil Aviation, to which both countries have signed.
