The Black Mamba and Equinocio among the winners of the 2023 International Portuguese Music Award

In the 11th edition of IPMA, on Saturday evening, Portugal won nine out of 12 categories in the competition, in a gala presented by actress Daniela Ruah and television presenter Ricardo Farias, and featuring performances from artists such as José Cid, Marisa Liz , Diogo Picarra, Pedro Abrunhosa, Plutónio, Toy, among others.

At the event which took place at the Providence Performing Arts Center, in the state of Rhode Island, USA, The Black Mamba (Portugal) won the “Best Pop Performance” category; Equinocio (Portugal) “Best Traditional Performing” and Hélder Bruno (Portugal) “Best World Musical Performing”.

“O Sol Brilha”, by Richfellaz (Portugal) was distinguished as “Song of the Year”; VAXXO (Canada) won “Best Rock Performance”, TOM GVNG (France) won “Best Rap/Hip-Hop Performance” and Jâca (United States) took home the trophy for “Best Instrumental”.

“Music Video of the Year” collected by Diogo Pinto and Ricardo Bernardino (Portugal) with “Gato Preto”. Tomás (Portugal) won the “Popular Music” category and Marcelo (Portugal) won “Best Fado Performance”.

Rafaella (Portugal) won in the “New talent” category, which earned her a cash prize of 2,000 dollars (about 1,850 euros), and Rita Rocha (Portugal) won “Public Choice”.

In total, artists from nine countries were nominated for this year’s edition of the IPMA, an event which annually distinguishes artists of Portuguese descent.
