The mayor of Rivas, Aída Castillejo and the councilor for Environment, Agriculture and Interior of the Community of Madrid, Carlos Novillo, held a meeting today focused on continuing to promote the Regional Pact for Cañada Real. This pact was signed in 2017 and involves the Spanish Government and the Community of Madrid as well as the municipalities of Madrid, Coslada and Rivas Vaciamadrid, for those who speak in Cañada Real. In this case, the meeting was part of a series of meetings that the Ayuntamiento de Rivas had requested with different political representatives regarding the situation of the Pact and the objectives of implementation throughout the legislative body. In addition to the mayor and council, the meeting was also attended by those assigned to Cañada Real by Ayuntamiento and Community, Pedro del Cura and Ignacio Sánchez Segura, as well as deputy council member Rafael García González.

It is equally important for both governments to stop political initiatives in the Pact, provided there is loyalty and unanimity from all parties involved. Castillejo has proposed the creation of a common route plan that clarifies the achievements of this legislative body to ensure compliance with them.

Among other objectives, Mayor Rivas, who expressed his thanks for the participation of the most responsible people in the Community of Madrid in the meeting, has proposed to continue the agreements necessary to guarantee a stable route that solves «the problem of Cañada, which has become a center of social exclusion largest in the country». This also highlights the need for a direct relationship between the board and the ayuntamientos, as well as ongoing collaboration between the commissioners.

Finally, from the Ayuntamiento de Rivas, the organization of a joint trip between the governments that are part of the Real Cañada Pact has been proposed to share progress, provide knowledge about the work in progress and generate synergy between the different actors with its implications in Cañada.
