“Guardian” is Canada’s deadliest sniper and, to defend the foreign flag, already in Ukraine. Why? “I want to help them. As simple as that”, stress on CBS News. “There are people here who are bombed just because they want to be European and not Russian.”

Known by the Islamic term which can be translated as “master”, “ruler” or “protector”, “Wali” is a legend among sniperso international press highlighted his decision to fight against Russian troops. On average, a sniper kills seven people a day, and on the front line, he can reach ten. The Canadian exceeds these figures, as he manages to cause 40 deaths a day. He also fights on the same team as the shooter with a long-range kill record: 3,540 kilometers. — then, on March 23, in an interview to La Presse, he clarified that this record was incorrectly attributed to him: yes, it belonged to another shooter of the same nationality.

He was only identified as “Guardian” to protect his family, but he wasn’t afraid to show his face. He was stationed, along with three other Canadian soldiers who had accompanied him from the start, in a partially restored house. They are working on the final bureaucratic steps with the Ukrainian authorities, which want to put them in the territorial army battalion — a recently reorganized citizen army reserve unit and in which Ukrainian authorities hope to gather 10,000 officers and 120,000 volunteers.

From a computer engineer to the greatest European war uncertainty in seven decadeshis life suddenly radically changed: “A week ago I programmed the system. Now I take anti-tank missiles from warehouse to kill real people“.

The “hardest part” of the decision to join the fight in Ukraine was missing his son’s first birthday. The woman, of course, objected to the idea.: “You can imagine what he said and the way he thought”.

Canadian soldiers circumvent a law in their country – the Alien Enlistment Act, which has been in effect since 1937 and in the context of the Spanish Civil War – that prevented its citizens from registering against Canada’s allies. In this case, the law does not necessarily exclude alignment with Ukraine, but will most likely make, for example, association with Russian troops illegal.
