Canada enters the tournament ranked 16th in the world and the World Championship will see the top 24 teams from around the world compete.

So far, the Canadian team has won 2-2 in the round-robin game. Their first match was against the world number one team, USA, where they lost in straight sets. Then, they went against the defending champions, Serbia and lost in three matches.

However, victories over Kazakhstan and Belgium pushed their record back to 0.500.

They have one group stage game remaining, against Germany, who are ranked 11th in the world.

The top four teams in each group will then advance to the playoffs. Canada has already secured a place in the playoffs. The best the country has ever done in that tournament was its 11th, way back in 1982, so hopes of improving on that result must have been met.
