Intership contracted a new wellboat and signed a long-term contract with Mowi in Canada

The Hareide-based shipping company has contracted a new wellship and at the same time entered into an agreement long-term agreement with Mowi Canada East. The well barge will have a cargo capacity of 2,200 m3 and will be delivered in the first quarter of 2022.

The new ship was designed by NSK Ship Design, and will be built at the Zamakona Yards Bilbao shipyard in Spain. In addition to focusing on good fish health and avoiding the spread of infections, the vessel will be equipped with a fully integrated freshwater system with a large production capacity compared to the size of the well, Intership wrote in a press release.

This will be the second vessel with a freshwater system for Intership, in addition to the system on the “Inter Caledonia” which entered service in 2016.

Intership was founded in 2014 and has experienced solid growth since its inception. The company offers a modern fleet with innovative technology for sustainable fish handling, processing and transport. After taking over the new building, the total fleet capacity will increase to more than 13,000 m3 distributed across eight wellships. The ships operate in Norway, Chile, Scotland, Iceland, and on the east and west coasts of Canada.

– We are happy to share this news. In addition to building another wellship, we once again received new trust from our old customer, Mowi. “Once the vessel is delivered, we will operate two vessels for the same customer, on the east coast of Canada,” managing director Ole Peter Brandal said in comments.
