Jeff Skinner recorded the seventh NHL hat trick of his career

Buffalo Sabers forward Jeff Skinner of Toronto, Ontario recorded the seventh hat trick of his National Hockey League career on Monday. He accomplished the feat in the Sabers' 6-2 win over the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington.

Skinner put the Sabers up 2-1 at 3:56 of the second period off Peyton Krebs of Calgary, Alberta. He then put the Sabers up 5-2 with an unassisted second period goal at 11:18 of the middle frame, and then capped the scoring with a minute and 59 seconds remaining in the game from defensemen Jacob Bryson of London, Ont., and Jordan Greenway.

Two Canadians scored for the Sabres. The other is Owen Power from Mississauga, Ontario.

In 61 games this season, Skinner had 24 goals and 21 assists for 45 points. He was a +2 player with 28 penalty minutes, 12 power-play points, three game-winning goals, 186 shots on goal, 45 faceoff wins, 10 blocked shots, 17 hits, 33 takeaways and 27 giveaways.

Of Skinner's seven career NHL hat tricks, four came with the Carolina Hurricanes and three with the Sabres. Skinner's four hat tricks with the Hurricanes came in Carolina's 5–2 win over the Nashville Predators on December 5, 2013, in the Hurricanes' 4–3 win over the Washington Capitals on January 2, 2014, in the Hurricanes' 5–1 win over the Anaheim Ducks on December 11, 2015, and in The Hurricanes' 4–3 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on December 15, 2015. In his other two hat tricks with the Sabres, Skinner scored three goals in the Sabers' 5–1 win over the Los Angeles Kings on October 20, 2018, and four times in the Sabers' 5–3 win over Montreal Canadiens on February 13, 2022.
