Severin receives Canadian visit – NRK Møre og Romsdal – Local news, TV and radio

The two had found Røneset on the map and thought it would be okay to walk on the map which looked like a path along the sea from Søvika. But it will be a very difficult journey for Lizet (72) and Ole Thorvald (75).

Absorbed by the Severin series

– I read about Severin in Sykkylvsbladet, which I got in Canada, and was fascinated by the way he lives in Røneset. Both Lizet and I were completely absorbed by nature, tranquility and life in Røneset, says Ole Thorvald.

– That’s amazing for me, said Lizet, who was very satisfied with the series they watched on online TV.

Steep, mossy, wet and slippery

The 3-4 kilometer journey they had envisioned from Søvika along the sea to Røneset turned out to be much more challenging than they had imagined. The first part, according to Vindsneset, went smoothly, but then it became difficult. Eventually it gets very steep, overgrown and difficult to find the way up.

– After passing some steep cliffs I wanted to turn around, said Lizet, but they continued.

After that things got worse. Now they can’t go back anymore. They hope Severin can take them back by boat.

Had to spend the night in the outdoor living room

After four hours they arrived at Røneset tired, wet and cold, but there was no one at home!

Luckily, Severin’s outdoor living room has sofas, wool rugs, wood, and a fireplace. Ole Thorvald found an ax and warmed himself by chopping wood. They found matches, lit a fire and dried their clothes.

After a cold night with little sleep, the morning sun came and warmed things up a bit. Breakfast consisted of the last piece of bread from the nista and some iced coffee. It was irrelevant to return to Søvika now, so they instead tried to wave at passing boats.

The driver of a passing boat recognized Severin and told him that there were people standing in his yard waving.

When Severin came home, he found the two overnight guests frozen, hungry and tired. He lit a fire in the living room, made hot coffee and had the two long-distance travelers melt the fire and feed them. Severin appreciated the unexpected visit.

– The years have given me a lot, and there is always something new that emerges, says Severin Rønes, who suddenly learned the life story of a completely unknown person from Canada.

New “Severin” season soon

Lizet and Ole Thorvald Vik had an extraordinary experience that they will soon forget, and in a few months the new season about Severin in Røneset will probably start.

– We are really looking forward to it, said this married couple from Canada.
