Canadian court orders Dryworld to pay damages

Fluminense announced, tonight (9), that they won a lawsuit against Dryworld, the club’s former sports equipment supplier. According to a statement released, a Canadian court ordered the company to pay compensation to Tricolor.

Also according to Flu, “the decision that found Dryworld guilty of the termination of the contract that occurred in 2016, determines the payment of the amount of compensation that will still be the object of renewal calculations”.

“Although the sentence is appealable, Dryworld’s chances of overturning it are slim, especially given the sheer volume of evidence produced by Fluminense,” Heraldo Lunes, the club’s vice president for Legal Interest, told the official website.

Fluminense agreed to Dryworld in January 2016 and, initially, the tie lasted for five seasons. However, facing many logistical problems, in the payment of royalties and sponsorship quotas, the club decided to end the partnership a few months after it started. Tricolor then tries to retrieve the pending value.

The decision that found Dryworld guilty of the termination of the contract that occurred in 2016, determines the payment of the amount of compensation that will still be subject to renewal calculations.

“Although the sentence can be appealed, Dryworld’s chances of overturning it are slim, especially given the sheer volume of evidence produced by Fluminense”, said club vice president for Legal Interests, Heraldo Iunes.

Dryworld became Fluminense’s supplier of sports equipment in January 2016. Problems with shipping, royalty payments and sponsorship quotas led Fluminense to terminate the contract – originally scheduled for five seasons, terminated several months after its initial expiration. Tricolor has been trying, ever since, to recover the amount it has matured
