The sanction is maintained. Jordan Peterson lost in court – Document

Canadian law recently upheld the Clinical Psychology Association’s sanction of Jordan Peterson for his criticism of transgender ideology, climate alarmism and the Canadian government.

– If you believe in freedom of expression, you are deluding yourself

The College of Psychologists of Ontario, which has recently shown a penchant for radical gender theory, threatened to revoke Peterson’s clinical psychology license over his social media activity. The alternative to license forfeiture was retraining, meaning that Peterson complete a “specified continuing education or remedial program.”

Last Wednesday, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice ordered Peterson to pay $25,000 to the College of Psychologists. Additionally, the court strengthened the requirement that Peterson complete a social media education program.

– The Ontario Court of Appeal has ruled that the College of Psychologists of Ontario can continue its efforts. If you think you enjoy freedom of expression in Canada, you are wrong. I will make all aspects of this matter public, Peterson commented.

Criticized the authorities

Peterson’s list of offenses compiled by the College of Psychologists includes retweeting Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre’s criticism of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, expressing disapproval of a former senior executive of Trudeau and the expression of his opposition to the Ottawa police regarding the children of the protesters of the trucker convoy in detention.

The other “offenses” committed by Peterson are not directly linked to Canadian authorities. For example, he commented on Joe Rogan’s podcast that acceptance of radical gender theory indicates a “collapse of civilization,” he called climate models unreliable, and he criticized Sports Illustrated’s choice of ‘a voluminous swimsuit model on the cover. He also reportedly told someone who complained that there were too many people on the planet that “you are free to resign at any time.”

Regulate the profession in the general interest

The judge evaluated Peterson’s statements in the context of the Clinical Psychology Association’s “mandate to regulate the profession in the public interest.”

Canadian Constitution Foundation argued in Peterson’s defense:

– Professionals enjoy privacy and the authorities must not sanction behavior outside the service which has no obvious link with the profession. We are disappointed by the verdict which we believe could have a chilling effect on people in other regulated professions such as doctors, lawyers, teachers and accountants.

Toronto Sunshine writes that Peterson is prepared to pursue the case all the way to the Supreme Court.
