French singer and Canadian pianist perform at CTJ Hall

A pianist, soprano and “trans-American” repertoire capable of surprising and delighting the world's most demanding ears. It's Mélodies Trans-Amériques (or Melodias Transamericanas, in the free translation), which will take to the CTJ Hall stage at Casa Thomas Jefferson this Friday (27), starting at 8 p.m. Admission is free and there is no need to collect tickets in advance. The concert will also be broadcast live on Thomas' YouTube channel.

In this special concert, soprano Élisabeth Nivet and pianist Louise-Andrée Baril brings from Canada to Brasília a musical spectacle that includes everything from popular songs arriving in New France to contemporary creations of a Brazilian in Paris, as well as French-language poetry from Haiti arranged in musical format by young Canadian-Haitian composers. It is a lyrical art through a special style of “French melody, voice and piano over poetry”, in Portuguese and French.

“The idea for this project was born after the performance of “Soleil Rouge”, in 2022, at the Verdun Summer Festival, in France, when we put together a complete program of performances of Spanish composers of the 20th century, the desire to deepen this approach performances in Brasília was born, because this allows us to realize different composers' worlds through specific techniques”, says Élisabeth Nivet.

This performance was brought to Brasília by Casa Thomas Jefferson, as part of the Sextas Musicais project, an initiative that offers the public, free and live, the best Brazilian and international music performances every week. The presentations in this project have become a quality reference among the public, artists and specialized critics. Casa Thomas Jefferson receives support from the United States Embassy in organizing cultural events.
