A misinterpretation of social media caused the Canadian rapper and digital influencer Lil Tay The 14 year old boy was reported dead. This information was confirmed by international media on Wednesday 9 August based on a post on the young woman's official Instagram account.

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news that our beloved Claire (Lil Tay's real name) has passed away suddenly and tragically,” the message began.

“We have no words to express this unbearable loss and indescribable pain. “This incident was completely unexpected and shocked us,” continued the information.

The statement also highlighted that his brother, Jason Tian, also died. At the time this report was written, no details had been disclosed.

“Your brother's passing adds deeper pain. “During this time of incredible sadness, we respectfully ask for privacy as we mourn this incredible loss, as the circumstances surrounding Claire and her brother's deaths remain under investigation.”
