Rock in Rio announced the list of artists who will be singing on Stage Sunset: Gilberto Gil. The presentation takes place on September 4 and concludes the first weekend of the festival, with performances that promise to bring hits and family members to the stage.

The show will celebrate the artist’s 80th birthday and will feature Bem Gil, João Gil, Nara Gil, Flor Gil, José Gil, Marcelo Costa, Danilo Andrade, Diogo Gomes and Thiago Queiroz. According to Estadão Conteúdo, the artistic director of the Sunset Stage at Rock i Rio, Zé Ricardo, stated that it would be a special night and prize, 37 years after Bahian’s first participation in the festival.

“Welcoming Gilberto Gil on the Sunset Stage was an honor, even more so when we consider the possibility of saving so many wonderful memories of 1985. Gil was with us in the first edition, which marked a generation, and it was priceless. His trajectory in music was immense and he will represent the legacy of all of our big names at MPB. Therefore, this tribute will not be limited to just one day. In the seven day event we will have projections on stage screens that will tell their stories through music. Specially, to create new stories for the 100 thousand people who will watch us on the 4th, 700 thousand every day and even thousands more who will watch us through the Multishow broadcast”, recalls Zé Ricardo.

On the same stage, singer Emicida will also perform, which will also bring guests, Luísa Sonza and Marina Sena, in addition to rapper Matuê. On December 4, Canadian singer Justin Bieber made the headlines on the World Stage. Singers Demi Lovato and Iza, as well as the trio Migos complete the main stage lineup.
